1 – Restrictive diet and intense exercise
This is the most common approach when people try to lose weight. It is basically about eating less and exercising more.
Unfortunately, this option is not a sustainable method.
In fact, it can be harmful to the body, making weight loss an incredibly difficult and long process.
When you follow highly restrictive diets and intense workout programs, you’re setting yourself up for a number of issues.
For one, by cutting calories (such as eating only 1000-1200 calories a day), you stress your body and gradually lower your metabolism set point.
During this process, your body, instead of maximizing energy burn, will start conserving energy, thinking you are facing famine, to help you survive.
This means your metabolism becomes slower, and your body starts to hold onto calories more tightly than it did before.
2 – Unstructured eating healthier and moving more
This option involves eating healthier and moving more. It is not as restrictive as Option 1, and it has more flexibility.
However, this option does not guarantee a quick solution to weight loss.
The timeline for weight loss depends on where you are. If you have already developed self-sabotaging psychology towards food and eating, just moving more and eating differently won’t change the problem.
First of all, your body isn’t healed and retrained to lose weight instead of retaining or even attracting weight yet.
Secondly, given the wrong beliefs and concepts about eating that you’ve developed for years, the ‘right’ things in your understanding may not be right at all.
One of the common mistakes that people make is trying to follow the rule of eating less than 80 grams of carbs a day, which is not necessarily the best approach.
Being truly healthy and holistically fit and free doesn’t require you to restrict yourself in any way.
By applying rules like this, you still have the dieter’s mindset, which can hold you back.
3 – Weight loss pills or other “too-good-to-be-true solutions”
This option is a quick fix for weight loss, but it is not sustainable or safe.
You may see quick results, but they are questionable and may cause harm to your body.
Weight loss pills and other quick fixes are not long-term solutions to weight loss, and they can even be dangerous.
In fact, unless you are way too obese and for medical reasons, you have to lose weight quickly, we don’t recommend this option at all.
